Telephone Operator (Full-Time)
Lowell General Hospital seeks a full-time Telephone Operator with strong customer service skills. In this role, you will operate a PC switchboard console and paging systems to handle incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls. You will also monitor hospital alarm systems, make overhead announcements, and perform various clerical duties.
Job Summary:
- PC Switchboard Operation: Answer and manage a PC switchboard console using professional telephone etiquette, ensuring quick and accurate call transfers.
- Communication: Interact with patients, clients, providers, and internal staff using computer-based systems.
- Emergency Alerts: Activate time-sensitive clinical and emergency codes as necessary.
- Collaboration: Work within a team environment to ensure calls are transferred swiftly and accurately.
- Problem Solving: Utilize internal and external resources to resolve issues effectively.
- Customer Service: Maintain a focus on excellent customer service while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Time Management: Prioritize calls and manage time efficiently to achieve desired results.
Work Schedule:
Full-Time: 40 hours per week, 2nd shift
Rotating Weekends and Holidays
Location: Lowell General Hospital Main Campus
Weekly Schedule:
Week 1:
- Sunday: Off
- Monday: Off
- Tuesday – Saturday: 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM
Week 2:
- Sunday: 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM
- Monday: Off
- Tuesday – Friday: 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM
- Saturday: Off
Requirements:
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience with telephone switchboards or high-volume call answering environments preferred.
